WANT NOT WASTE NOT
A Closed Loop Project with Where The Light Gets In
Where The Light Gets In is a restaurant that champions being as zero waste and sustainable as possible. As part of my first year Unit X module, I chose them to collaborate with. I had the pleasure to work with their most valuable waste- their ceramics. Plates, cups and bowls were given a new lease of life with woven and stitched embellishments and kintsugi (the Japanese lacquer technique of cherishing and repairing cracks). I worked within a group of artists, each responding individually to the restaurant.

My project won the "most aesthetically pleasing" award from the Youth Crafts Council, class of 2020, awarded by Chris Cox, from Cox London. It was also mentioned in the Financial Times.
